Here's my latest web design for Governor Hoeven. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Post secret

My friend just enlightened me about the blog Post Secret, where you write your secret on a postcard and mail it in and then it is displayed on the blog. I'm sure most of you have heard of this. I feel so out of the loop for not knowing about it! Interesting concept if you've got something you want to get off your chest.

Books are also available.

Ok, back to reality after my happy happy post earlier. I found something that suits my (real) personality.....being somewhat of a smarta**. ((SARCs girls, you know it's true))
I just had to share this with all of you. I find the best stuff on suffix.abuse's blog. I don't know this person, but I can tell that we have the exact same personality and interests. Almost scary, really. Anyway, thanks again to her for finding the best things out there so I can share them with you.

Greet them with a smile

I had the chance to listen to Bill Geist speak again today. This time the topic was mostly on customer service and I had to laugh to myself as I wondered if good 'ol Super Barb happened to be in the room. Once again, I really enjoyed his presentation. While I don't have a lot of front-line contact with clients designing web sites, it is nice to learn a few tips on dealing with my Uppercase Living customers.

I also learned that maybe next time I run into a rude service industry person, that I shouldn't let it ruin my day, like I did with Super Barb. I will try and turn the tide and shower her with kindness and empathy. (hey, I said TRY)

Bottom line....we all have bad days. We all get really frustrated with our jobs and life, but if we mostly believe that only we can control our attitudes, we may walk through life with a lighter step. So, today, a happy post thanks to Bill. I feel inspired.

WTF has a whole new meaning in Wisconsin

Bill Geist has given me a whole new way to look at the words Wisconsin anyway

By the way, if you haven't heard him speak, you should check him out. I got the chance today and I really enjoyed it. Thanks, Bill!

Speaking of why I love Target

Have you seen their Dwell Studio line for babies? LOVE IT!!! Makes me want to have another, just to decorate!

For those of my many friends that are expecting this year, pleeeeeeeeeease let me help you decorate.

Not so super after all

I went to "Super" WalMart this weekend and I was reminded once again, why I LOVE TARGET! Believe me, I try to avoid WalMart, but every once in awhile, I fool myself into believing that it is just a quick stop and more convenient to pick up what I need, along with groceries. But every time I walk away mad. EVERY TIME! So, why do I do it?

Usually they are out of whatever I need. Or no one will help you. Or they only have two check-outs open for the bazillions of people that are waiting in line. So, yesterday I thought I'd be smart and use the garden center entrance and check-out there. Welcome to "Barb is having a really bad day and don't piss her off anymore then you have to" check-out. Now, I'm not asking for much. Just a teeny bit of customer service would do. Maybe even a slight smile. Just fake it if you have to.

I didn't realize until I went to check-out that the items I was going to purchase were damaged. I told her that I didn't want them. They were damaged. WOW, you would have thought I just stole her lollipop for the dirty look I got. Can I help it that your merchandise is damaged? As she huffed and puffed about how she had to walk 5 steps to set aside the items, she continued to shoot daggers as she finished with my items. I may have even caught her rolling her eyes. Man, what did I do to you, Barb?

Anyway, just add it to the long list of things that seem to happen when I visit our lovely super store. And yes, Barb probably had been on her feet for 8 hours dealing with who-knows-what and I should give her the benefit of the doubt. But today in Blogville, Barb is getting the brunt of my frustrations. You're a mean one, Super Barb.

PS. Did I say how much I love Target?

Nope, just Westhope

I have a friend who lives in Westhope, ND. In previous years, I have sent Christmas cards and various things to her in the mail. I've never actually had her mailing address. She usually tells me to just write, "Westhope, ND and the zipcode." Recently, I asked if that really worked. Here's me, just sending stuff up to Westhope, hoping it gets there but never really knowing if it actually did. She confirmed that indeed, it does!

No address. No PO Box. Just Westhope.

By the way, I'm going there tonight for an Uppercase Living party. I'm just going to look for the big white house on the corner, two blocks down from the church. I guess if I get lost, I can always track down the postman. He apparently knows the way.

Such a pretty painting

I have these paintings. They are very pretty. You should buy one. Or two. I have no hot water in my bathroom sink. I haven't had any since last month. My husband is not a plumber. I have pretty paintings. You should buy one. Or two.

Sugarland's comin'

Sugarland's comin' Sugarland's comin', I'm so excited that Sugarland's comin'

Yes, it doesn't take much to excite me. Add a little caffeine to this good news and I just might bounce off the walls.

I love my dog

I was just thinking of how much I love my dog.

You know, she can be a pain in my side. She doesn't listen worth a crap. I say 'come'. She stays. I say 'sit'. She runs away.

But I love my dog.

She insists that our bed is now her bed and how dare you try and sleep there without rearranging around her. With my hubby taking up his share and her with the other, it leaves no room for me.

But I love my dog.

Everyday I curse the dog hair in my home. It's on the floor, on the furniture, and heaven forbid you try and wear black clothes.

But I love my dog.

Sometimes she gets sick and decides to puke all over the floor. She has 90% hardwood and tile to make her mess, but she still chooses to hack up vomit all over the one rug I cannot throw in the wash.

But I love my dog.

When the baby is asleep, she decides to sneak in the room and shake and scratch with her ID tags making just enough noise to wake him. She chews, licks, whines, barks, scratches, growls, and steals food.

But man, I love my dog.
