Is it just me, or does the new Hulk scare the livin' CRAP out of you?? Don't get me wrong, computer graphics and special effects are an amazing thing and how they accomplish what they do is beyond me....but, if I were to see the Hulk I'd rather go back to the day of Lou Ferrigno when he looked more like Shrek.

I'm feeling a little more upbeat today. Perhaps it was a good night's sleep on my new Sealy. I'm optimistic that I've found a decent mattress and I can alleviate some aches and pains. It was only the first night, but hey, things just may be looking up. Thanks Chuck!!

Anyway.....heard an awesome story yesterday at Optimist Club about a Ted, a man with Downs Syndrome. Ted worked at the state capital dome in Denver. Everyday his dad would pick him up. The conversation follows...

Dad: How was your day today, Ted?
Ted: It was great day.
Dad: So, what made today such a great day?
Ted: I did!

How simple and poignant is that?!?!? Live by it.

I just have to say it

Well, I feel the need to vent a little. It is the day after election day in my fine city. On any given day, you will find me quite happy with where I live. I usually find myself defending ol' Minot to the naysayers and pessimists. After all, I was raised here and I chose to stay here and raise my family here. I emphatically defend Minot to those who currently live here and complain, to those who have left and will never come back. I'm one that actually speaks highly of Minot and I'm truly happy here. But, on this day after election day, I find myself really struggling to be optimistic.

First of all....a measly turn out at the poles....WHY??? How many votes were cast? Somewhere around 7k out of the $30k+ that live here. Is that sad? Or is this normal for every town? Someone with more political statistical knowledge please enlighten me.

Second of all...the Measure #2 to fund a local community bowl project was rejected, to which I say to the people in my town:

Girls Night!

The girls are getting together for the Sex and the City movie tonight! I can't wait!!

There's four of us. We've unwittingly taken on each of the girls' personas. We talked about it yesterday having lunch (how S&C of us). I've been designated the Carrie of the group. Obviously my fashion sense is nothing like her (what fashion sense?), but perhaps it is because she is the creative one of the bunch. Now, as I sit and post on my blog I'm reminded of Carrie, sitting there on her laptop, cig in hand, pondering life's questions. {Insert poignant relationship quetion here}

I've been a fan since I saw him on America's Got Talent. He did a version of Walking on the Moon by Sting. I always wished he would record it and now he did! Get it here.

Crocs and socks

I did it. Today I wore sandels with socks. I knew it was wrong. I did it anyway. I thought if I wore brown socks, and not white ones, that I would somehow fool everyone (or myself) that is was ok. I tried to explain to my friend that my feet get cold, to which she replied, "Just wear normal shoes then." But, my Keens were calling me. I love them and just had to put them on today....

My friends are so disappointed in me. The shame I saw on Dusty's face was just too much.

Take time to realize

We walked in our local Relay for Life event this past weekend. We honored those in our lives that have SURVIVED and remembered those that have not. I'm not sure who works so hard to bring this event to our community, but whoever does, KUDOS to you. It was held in front of Old Main this year and it was a beautiful night after the rain cleared. If you have never participated, I encourage you to just stop by.

In honor of my aunt, who is so full of life, take time today to appreciate the little things. Walk in the park, visit a farm, take your family to the zoo, dig in the dirt, kiss your spouse, hold your child, call up a friend and LAUGH. Just LAUGH until your stomach hurts. I did all of these things this weekend.
