Pepsi's new logo

There was much discussion the other night while we were at the Pepsi sponsored Business After Hours about the new Pepsi logo. If you haven't seen it already, Pepsi has re-branded themselves with a new logo and packaging. There is a lot of discussion online also, about the design of the new logo. I personally don't care for it. Is it a banner, a smile, a sail?? It is as if they just took the old version and warped it and called it good. And the's a little too phallic for me. (ewww!) I'm also not sure what I think of each 'flavor' having it's own slight variation of white in the mark. Oh well. I don't drink Pepsi, so I don't have to look at it.
Here's BRAND NEW's take: They posted back in October of 2008, but I just saw the new logo for the first time last night!

What are your thoughts on the new Pepsi logo?

When I first saw that logo, it was during the election and all I could think was, "Oh, Pepsi's all for hope and change." It's pretty Obama-y. Totally agree about the bottle. Which reminds me . . . the supermarket where I used to shop all the time in Bismarck had a Pepsi machine out front. For a long time the image on the front was some race-car driver. He was holding a bottle of Pepsi at upper-thigh level. The bottle was opened and it was spewing out. So yes, you can guess exactly what it looked like, plus the guy had this really creepy grin on his face, just to top it all off. Ewwww indeed.

Don't like the variations on the logo for the different flavors, either. Which is also a rip-off of Obama, who did have variations of his for various constituencies, but they were all very well-done.
