Please vote for our park!

It's not a national park. It's not a state park. It doesn't have mountains, hiking trails or magnificent views. It is simply our hometown park that provided great memories and a little peace in a chaotic world. It's Oak Park and it's Roosevelt Park and they are both now wiped out completely by the terrible flood that ravaged our town.

The community worked hard to bring in a great handicap accessible playground a few years ago to Oak Park. A splash pad cools us on our hot humid days. Arts in the Park fill the summer nights with the sounds of music and local vendors share their goods in the autumn at the Farmer's Market. Walking paths provide a great escape and picnic tables allow families and friends to gather and celebrate. Roosevelt Park provides our only community outdoor pool and youngsters gather to 'ride the rails' through the park on hot summer days. Teens enjoy the skate park and everyone seems to enjoy the large lawn to relax and play. Our Roosevelt Park Zoo adjoins the park and they have worked so hard to provide such a great place for our families to spend time and visit the variety of animals.

This summer it's all gone.

Please take the time to vote and maybe something good will come of all this devastation. Thank you.

FYI: When you go to the site, apparently you can only vote for Oak Park.

All the votes should go to Oak Park and the money won will be for both parks through the parks and recreation areas. If people vote for both parks seperately then we may not win any of the money since our votes will be divided instead of put into one pot. The other parks vying for the money are very strong so we all need to vote for one park so that we win the money for both of the parks...just an FYI :)
