More Local Talent: Adorable Dresses for Toddlers

Today I'm featuring more local talent! YAY! I found An Apple and a Tree through some friends on FB. I already caved and had to buy this dress for my little sweetheart. I love the patterns/colors (again...material freak) and it looks to be a very comfortable little dress for this summer.

I have to admit that I have my hands into a lot of things creative, but I can't sew a stitch. Well, I've never tried and I don't plan on it anytime soon. Good thing others who have the same taste as I do can do it for me!

Little Birdies on the Wall

Awhile back I added some paper birds to my little girl's room. I have this odd obsession with all the wonderful graphic patterns of scrapbook paper (and material!) so I will probably be adding more at some point. They are a fun way to add a little flare and dimension to a wall. I came across the idea from a seller on Etsy (now I can't find her anymore) and have since seen different variations.

To create your own, simply cut out bird patterns from sheets of scrapbook paper and fold where you want the wings! I somewhat matched my plump little bird shape from the pattern on her bedding.

A Great Kids Activity for Valentine's Day

Hey baby it's cold outside...so why not take advantage of it with a fun project this Valentine's Day? My son and I had a great time creating this simple outdoor decoration. To make your own, simply fill heart shaped cake pans with water, add food coloring and place outside over night. We decided we wanted to hang them so we dipped the tips of ribbon into the top of the pan and let the loop hang out. We plan on filling our pans each night until Valentine's Day and hanging them on the tree outside. It's been so much fun!!

Another great use of colored water is to 'paint' the snow. This past weekend we filled up squirt bottles with colored water and had a great time coloring the snow outside.

You certainly have to think out of the box this time of year to keep kids entertained. I guess this is one good reason to enjoy the freezing temps!

My Frugal Find!

Have I told you how much I love a bargain? Well, I'm sooooo pumped about my latest find that I just had to share it with you. I had my eye on this accent table from Target for quite some time. Originally priced around $80, I just bought one yesterday for $18!! Whoo hoo! How did I find it? It wasn't online...it was here in town at the Dakota Boys Ranch Thrift Store! For those of you that don't know, Target gives their 'left-overs' to this particular store. So, if you are in the right place at the right time, you may just run into a great bargain for NEW items from Target. And, by shopping there, you are helping a cause in our community.

I went there to find .50 heart cake pans (more on this later) and walked out with some lucky finds. I also picked up two fabulous green, orange and brown striped pillows for only $4 each!

We all know that we don't have any outlets in Minot, nor do we have great flea markets to pick up items for decorating, so be on the look out for unexpected places to find treasures!

Who Knew?

A Fruity Twist For Your Valentine

I absolutely adore this idea found at Twig &Thistle. We have been trying to eat a lot healthier in our household, so why not set an example for our children this Valentine's Day by substituting sugary snacks for the 'real' sweetness of fruit! And the best thing for all you non-designers out there, is that T&T is offering a FREE PRINTABLE for you to place on the fruit and give to your special valentine.

This project is definitely going on my to-do list with my pre-schooler. And considering the fact that we still have Halloween candy sitting in drawer, perhaps the other parents out there may appreciate a twist to the average sweet treat this Valentine's Day!
