This past weekend an article about my HOPE HEALS painting was published in the Minot Daily News Hometown magazine. At the time of publication I hadn't started the business tour so that portion of the story wasn't included. I just wanted to remind everyone that I am still looking for businesses that are interested in showcasing the painting for a month. Each business that agrees to participate is asked to donate a suggested amount of $500 to the Roosevelt Park Zoo to help them recover from the flood damage. Let's bring those animals home!!
September: Sweet & Flour Patisserie, Minot, ND

Ride Cowgirl Ride
I captured this shot of my niece and then digitally manipulated it. I thought it turned out pretty cool. Or maybe it's just because I'm so darn proud of her! Either way, I thought it was worth a share.

My Latest Upcycle
I picked this up at a garage sale for $15. This is what is looked like before. (sorry, didn't get a picture of the shelving unit on top)
And this is what it looks like now after a fresh coat of paint.
I think I am going to change the back pattern to something either yellow or brown. I simply placed wrapping paper along the backside so it will be easy to change once I find the pattern I love. I like the red, but the color combo seems a little too 'country'. Yes? No?
If you are wondering what that piece in the middle is...well, I picked that up a garage sale for ten cents!! I had no idea what it was, but I just knew I loved the shape. So mod! The lady told me it is actually something you can place in your drawer and use as a divider for socks or whatever. I think it's simply adorable and I will probably use it to slide my paint brushes or paints into.
The previous handles were old antique brass. While I was planning on replacing these with a single pull, I had these white ones on hand so I used them instead. Having two instead of one turned out kind of cute, don't you think?
I was very happy with how the detailing work turned out. I like to 'antique' things a bit and with this particular piece, the result was a nice yellow to contrast the blue. To achieve this look, just take a small hand sander and apply pressure the edges. You can skip areas, leaving some without or run it along the complete edge like I did on top. I applied different pressure to vary the lines a bit.
Total cost about $25 after I bought a few cans of spray paint. (knobs and wrapping paper I had on hand) Now I have a cute colorful piece that is fabulous and functional!

Stay Gold: Artwork Donated to Minot's CancerCare Center
My latest creation will be displayed on the walls of the newly renovated CancerCare Center in Minot. I'm donating them in honor of my aunt and uncle and to all of those who have fought the battle against this terrible disease. I also want to thank my good friend Tanya for all that she does, day in and day out, to help her patients fight the good fight.
I'm not a poet but my adaptation in regards to this art piece would be as such:
Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
Robert Frost
I'm not a poet but my adaptation in regards to this art piece would be as such:
Nothing gold can stay
So take each day by day
For frolic in the sun bleached clover
Each day's warmth and light shines o'er
Passing time and struggle here
Shalt not be overcome with fear
Enjoy the moments there within
Upon the sunrise gold again
(Original Robert Frost poem)

Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
